I love this post. I have posted some crappy art on a site, though, and I don’t feel good about it. It is a site full of crappy art. Sometimes I think mediocrity breeds mediocrity. Right now I am having a tug of war in my mind between curated sites and open platforms. I don’t like gatekeepers. But, if art is democrasized, will we become adrift in a vast sea of mediocrity? There is a plethora of art sites and I also find myself debating the pros and cons of joining a well-established site with hundreds of artists, or a new site that hasn’t gained traction, yet, but, which has fewer members. Just sharing my thoughts spurred on by your post.
