I’ve had various teachers that influenced me in one way or another from grade school on to college. Ms. Frame was a high school English teacher whom I never took a class from, but, she ran the “study hall”; let’s just say her name was fitting. Probably one that had the biggest impact was my 8th grade English teacher, Mrs Woods. She showed me that shakespeare wasn’t necessarily boring. She also petitioned the parents to allow us to go on a field trip to see the Franco Zeffirelli production of Romeo and Juliet that was controversial at the time because it showed the actors in bed with each other and Olivia Hussey’s nude underage torso(back to the camera). Perhaps it was Mrs. Woods influence that lead to me accepting a position as an Archival Assistant at The Oregon Shakespeare Festival years later while attending college.
