One thing I’ve noticed, is that when I leave Medium to look at something on another site and then return to Medium, something relating to what I was browsing on another site appears on the Medium homepage, just like Google, Amazon, Microsoft and half a dozen other internet companies that track your browsing history. I agree that what I am most interested in are articles by people I have chosen to follow, and that is what should dominate my home page as far as I am concerned. Sometimes I discover a new writer to Medium that I like, and that is what keeps me here. That’s the downside to the internet; every site is trying to follow the latest trends and be a carbon-copy of some other site- the tail is wagging the dog, and the dog thinks the tail belongs to a different dog, but, it doesn’t.
