There is a certain irony that the patriarch of the smart phone, Steve Jobs, was influenced in the elegance of design by a calligraphy class at Reed College taught by Lloyd J. Reynolds. I took a calligraphy class at a community schools program that was taught by one of Lloyd’s apprentices. I still have the instructional book by Lloyd J. Reynolds on calligraphy that was part of the class. I heard that cursive writing isn’t even being taught in school anymore. It’s a pity.
