Your article got me to thinking about Art that is truly timeless, and I realised what I consider to be truly timeless art, someone else would dispute that designation. Most would bestow that honor upon the work of Michelangelo, but, I wouldn’t using your qualifier of context, although his skill and mastery is certainly “timeless”. I find Courbet’s ‘The Origin of the World’ and Gauguin’s ‘Where Do We Come From?What Are We?Where Are We Going? to be “timeless”. Someone else would disagree.
